WHAT'S NOT TO LOVE

What's not to love

The children play

Imaginary friends are greeted

Scrapped knees from a fall

Tears are shed

The pain is real

They learn to feel

Echoing from the playground

Creaking from the swings

Playing until the sun sets down

Dangling from the trees

The laughter lasts just for a moment

But soon after real life begins

What's not to love

On the road

Experiencing everything

And time all alone

Stepping back

Dealing with adversity

Echoing from the stage

Dust rising in the hall

Silence now the resonance

Of concerts long ago

I surrender to time moving on

But won't surrender to living strong

What's not to love

Without permission

The seasons change no rhyme or reason

And lost in it all

Ghosts of men

Their memories fade

They've gone away

Echoing from the graveyard

Brides and their grooms

Dancing to the beat of a drum

Following its tune

Remember life is finite

Remember to live for this night
